Mothers are also born
Welcome to All About Mum Journal - The Mothership London new blog.
This is my first blog post ever (I have to confess I’m very excited and also very nervous about it). I would like to start this blog by telling you a bit about why I started The Mothership London.
During pregnancy, the expecting mother is the centre of attention. Everything’s about her and everyone goes the extra mile to make her feel special, pampered, and cared for. She takes care of herself, her health and her wellbeing.
The pregnant changing body is a sign of life and expectation. Let’s face it, it’s the only time we feel comfortable showing off our growing belly! And if hormones are on our side, we will even be blessed with a pregnancy glow.
But then the baby arrives. And overnight, all the attention, care and pampering shifts towards the new born. Don’t get me wrong, this is supposed to happen, our tiny, new human needs our unconditional love and attention to thrive in her new world. This is what motherhood is all about.
But, what about the new born mother?
We are delivered into motherhood in physical pain, with traumatised bodies, overtired, and with our hormones turning all Godzilla on us. It’s an emotional rollercoaster.
I believe new mums deserve more attention and support. I believe it takes a village to raise a MOTHER, and that’s why I started The Mothership London. To support mums in their motherhood journey.
The way I can do it is by connecting mums to other shining stars - inspiring, empowering and caring women that will get them the support they need during this journey.
Through our workshops and events, our journal and a growing online community of mums, you will find lots of information and resources you might need at different stages of motherhood, from pregnancy and birth all the way to the toddler years.
I hope you enjoy reading this journal as much as I enjoy writing it. May you find the support and the light you need as a new mum. And if you ever have a question, I’m always happy to connect by email or by Facebook or Instagram messaging.
Before I go, I’ll leave you with this quote from OSHO that totally resonates with me and the reason behind The Mothership London:
“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. The mother is something absolutely new.”
